Massachusetts Soil Survey

The mission of the Massachusetts NRCS Soils Team is to provide quality soils information and promote its use. Our vision is that our customers recognize the information and technical assistance we provide as invaluable in making wise land use decisions.

In 1991, the Massachusetts State Legislature designated the Paxton fine sandy loam as the Official State Soil of the Commonwealth.
