Last stop on the conservation train

In 1965 I jumped on a fast moving conservation train fueled with lots of
watershed money. The Soil Conservation Service was recruiting engineers all over
the country to plan, design and build flood control dams and channels. This was
pretty exciting for a young engineer.

Members of a Dracut farming family were joined by local, state, and federal
officials, and other area farmers in celebrating the permanent preservation of
30 acres of farmland on Parker Road that the family owned for 87 years.

The Hampden Conservation District will host a tour highlighting conservation
projects on three Hampden County farms on Wednesday, October 25 from 4:30 pm to

Departments of Agriculture, Interior, Commerce, Defense and EPA seek public
input
Some
60 citizens, state and local officials, and representatives of organizations
involved in natural resources conservation in Massachusetts and neighboring
states attended a public listening session on Cooperative Conservation and
Environmental Partnerships hosted by Mark Rey, U.S. Under Secretary of
Agriculture for Natural Resources and Environment today at the Hotel

2007 Massachusetts Agriculture Calendar Published
The
winning photos from this year’s Massachusetts Agriculture Calendar Photo Contest
have been selected and published in the 2007 Massachusetts Agriculture Calendar.
The calendar, published by Massachusetts Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc, in
cooperation with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources and the
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, features a winning photograph each
month, plus several honorable mention winners in selected places.
