Hampden Conservation District tour to highlight farm projects
The Hampden Conservation District will host a tour highlighting conservation
projects on three Hampden County farms on Wednesday, October 25 from 4:30 pm to
7:30 pm. The public is invited to attend.
4:30 pm - River Rock Farm, Brimfield. Owner Jon Konove has
received technical and financial assistance to install fencing, laneways,
waterers, and a heavy use area through the NRCS Environmental Quality Incentives
Program (EQIP) on this grass-fed beef operation.
5:30 pm - Valonen Farm, East Longmeadow. Owner Rudy Valonen has
received technical and financial assistance to install an irrigation system
through the NRCS Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) program on this
vegetable operation.
6:30 pm - Kosinski Farms, Westfield. Owner Michael Kosinski has
received technical and financial assistance for an ag mixing facility,
irrigation and corn stoves through EQIP, AMA and the state Agricultural
Environmental Enhancement Program (AEEP) on this vegetable, tobacco and nursery
operation.
